A: Hi, I am Angelina Neglia. I’m here with Scott MacDonald, author of Saving Investa, How an Ex Factory worker helped save an Iconic Australian Company. In the book, Scott shares 25 lessons learned over his 40-year career.
Lesson number twelve is: Procrastinators usually come in last place. Scott, I think everyone procrastinates now and then. Why is it so important to get things done early?
S: Angie, I’ve worked with several corporate turnarounds, where time is of the essence. Failure to get things done in a timely manner is often disastrous. But even in other less dire situations, so often the unexpected happens. If you don’t finish the known and expected tasks early you don’t have time to deal with the unknown or unexpected tasks, and you will almost perform more poorly as a result. You need to get the tasks that you know done quickly so that you have time to react to things that come up which you don’t anticipate.
A: So for more lessons learned, don’t procrastinate in buying Scott’s book, Saving Investa.
