Seamus has come into my life – Hurrah!
My house is no longer silent and empty of a welcoming dog – I now have Seamus to be my new love.
I found him on the Petfinder website and immediately fell for him. He was living in a shelter in Clear Lake, having been transported there from a high-kill shelter in Texas.
The shelter people named him Clarence, but I have re-named him Seamus – a lovely Irish name for a German Shepherd mix! The vet who examined him in Texas guessed his age at about seven. He is so well behaved, I think he must have been a family pet at one time. We’ll never know.
We went on his first cemetery walk Sunday and he seemed to love it. I introduced him to his Cordingley ancestors – see photo below. He took his tree, bush and gravestone-watering duties very seriously.
In the other picture, he jumped back in the car after we got home from Clear Lake, only this time he decided to show me he’s in the driver’s seat. All the dogs in our lives have been in the driver’s seat.
Of course, I still miss Ivy Scarlett – and all her predecessors that Bing and I adopted over the years. It’s just that I cannot imagine life without a dog.
